About Kody Kirkpatrick
Growing up in Northern Nevada, to me, there wasn’t much to look at except the brown desert. While the desert is beautiful at certain time, I prefer to photograph more than just the high desert. When my parents told me that they wanted to move to Oregon, I couldn’t wait as I knew we would be only an hour from the ocean or the mountains. My interest in photography started at Oregon State University in a film class. This class opened my eyes to what I could do with film and not only show things in color but black and white. The professor taught us that film photograph is all about getting everything correct, in the camera, before the shutter is pressed. From then on, I was hooked. Over time I have found that I am a purest when it comes to photography.
I love photographing the landscape. Showing all that nature has to offer and showing it a way most people don’t have the opportunity to see it. I prefer to work at night as there is something wonderful about turning the darkness of night into a highly-detailed landscape.
I truly enjoy the long nights either at the ocean or in the mountains to capture the perfect image and can’t wait to develop into a forever image.
