You don't make a photography, you make it.   -Ansel Adams

Photography for me is made, not taken.  Photography is about trial and error.  To elaborate, falling flat on your face over and over again to the point of wanting to give up but knowing that the one image produced makes all of the struggles worth the journey.  Photography is not merely pushing a button.  It takes time lining up the shot, calculating the exposure settings, developing the film and finally printing the image.  While I still shoot with digital cameras, my preferred medium will always be film.

I enjoy the long hours in the dark room using my skills and techniques I am a very hands on person.  To me, a silver gelatin print can’t be beat, even though digital photography and printer technology have come a long way.  While digital photography has its advantages over film, there is something about the dedication and patience required to produce a quality silver gelatin print. The process is hands on and somewhat magical as the paper is put into the developer and about 15 to 30 seconds later an image instantly appears.

I love working at nights.  Ever since college I have been a night owl. Spending all night in the darkroom or out taking a long exposure all night is therapeutic to me as it is my way to get away from the world and clear my head.
